Fabien

Fabien, who has worked in the IT industry in France for a number of years, has always yearned to come to Sydney. French people, says Fabien, think of Sydney as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and his dream has been to ‘get ahead of the times’ and have Christmas in summer!

Now that he has finally realised his dream, what Fabien enjoys most in Australia (apart from the koalas and kangaroos, of course!) is the laid-back lifestyle. You can do anything by yourself, from buying a car to renting a house. And the Aussies themselves are easy-going and laid-back.

Fabien says that he’s having a great time at SELC. He has chosen the Cambridge First Certificate preparation course, which is hard work, he admits. His teachers do everything they can to make learning easier and more enjoyable and the team of Fiona and Jenny complement each other nicely; Jenny being lively and inspirational, whereas Fiona is calm and methodical. And the three-day mid-term Cambridge excursion to Port Stephens provided an excellent way to recharge the class’s batteries and to get to know the other Cambridge teachers and students better.

Some highlights of the social activities for Fabien? The Halloween Harbour cruise (Fabien wore a truly scary mask!) and a bushwalk and BBQ organised by SELC’s Associate Director, Andrew Thomas, in a national park north of Sydney.

We wish you luck with your exam, Fabien, and are sure the examiners will be as charmed by your French manner as we are!
