Raquel and Marta

Marta: Nowadays, if you want a good job, it is essential to know how to speak English. Furthermore, English is an international language and it is very important for me if I want to have a successful career.
Raquel: I’m studying English because I live in a tourist city where the majority of people speak English and my future aim is to find a job there. If I can’t find a job there, I would like to go abroad.

Why did you choose to study English in Australia?
Raquel: I’d always dreamt about going to Australia and when I had the chance I didn’t think twice.

Marta: This country has always fascinated me and a friend of mine who came here told me that the people are very friendly and the country in general was amazing.

Why did you choose to study at SELC?
Marta: A friend of mine introduced me to Rosalie (SELC teacher and Academic Counsellor) in Spain and she was talking to me about SELC. The school looked very interesting and so here I am!

Raquel: A friend of mine met Rosalie in Spain and she told me about SELC. Rosalie helped us realise our dreams.

What do you like most about SELC?
Marta: The atmosphere is very good. People are very friendly and I’ve met people from different countries.

Raquel: Meeting people of different nationalities and learning more about their culture.

What has been your most memorable experience in Australia so far?
Raquel: First of all, staying here has been amazing! And of course, spending my first Christmas on the beach!

Marta: Christmas in Summer! It was amazing for me, very sunny. There are also a lot of beautiful landscapes here.

What are your future plans?
Marta: I’m going to TAFE to do a course. When I go back to Spain my intention will be to find a good job. I hope my experience here will help me, I’m sure it will.

Raquel: Save money to travel around Australia and study. I want to take advantage of my time living here in Australia. I’m really glad I had the chance to come here!

We wish Marta and Raquel all the best for the future
